Love and Logic Parenting Techniques
The goal of Love and Logic parenting is to provide an effective therapeutic parenting technique. Parenting can be individualized to each child’s specific needs and issues. The technique is designed to be structured in the application of principles to all phases of the youth’s life. Progress can be assessed, and the quality and direction of application of the parenting techniques can be evaluated through a regular assessment of change in baseline behaviors. Parenting interventions can be selected through the identification of choices which are most effective for each individual child.
I recognize that some children and adolescents may have experienced a history of dysfunctional family dynamics, lack of family attachment, traumas of abuse and neglect and other mental health and behavioral problems. As a result, Love and Logic parenting techniques attempt to help overcome “bad choices” and behaviors through a consistent, individualized parenting technique. The program is designed to offer a safe and secure environment that will provide children with an opportunity to learn responsibility, gain self concept, grow self efficacy, and display appropriate behaviors. With the capacity for extended experiences, parents can continue using Love and Logic parenting techniques while exploring any developmental issues, learn appropriate emotional expression, improve communication skills with parents and adults and learn how to build and maintain healthy functional relationships.
